Extent: East –West o over 9600 Km,

North –south – 4800 km.

Size: largest country iof the world, in area.

Capital: moocow (Europe).

Situation: lies in Europe as well as Asia, extends from the Baltic Sea in the west to the Pacific Ocean in the east, and from the Arctic Ocean in the north to the borders of Turkey and Iran in the south. It touches fourteen other countries and crosses eight time zones. to the west of the Ural Mountains, is the European portion, Popularly known as Russia while the eastern Asiatic region is commonly called Siberia.

·         Moscow – Tula region is noted for its low g rade lignite coalfields.

·         A port of five seas-the Baltic Seal, Lake Lodoga,the Arctic Ocean, the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea which are connected  to the city by rivers.
