Population: 168 million
Longitude: 34˚ 50’ – 70’ W
Capital: Brasilia (old capital: Salvador uphill 1763).
Situation: it forms a common boundary with every country of the continent except Ecuador and Chile and situated more or less in the centre of South America.

Size: largest country of South America is also the second largest country in the western hemisphere. It is the fifth largest country in the world in terms of area and population.

·         Centre of the coffee trade, and meat packaging.

·          Coffee estates of this region are called fazendas.
SANTOS
·         Outpost of saw Paulo handles maximum coffee export than any other port.

RIO DE JANEIRO

·         An important port which facilitates coffee plantation of the region.

·         Known for Sugarloaf Mountains.
BELO HORIZONTE


·         Literally known as beautiful horizon, important iron ore deposits are found here.
BELEM

·         Situated near the mouth of riot Tocantins River.

·         It is the chief port of Amazon basin which exports cocoa, rubber, etc.

MANAUS
·         Situated on the confluence of river Negro and the Amazon representative station of equatoriorial lowland climate.

·         Main rubber collecting centre in the upper part of the Amazon basin.
CARAJAS

·         Iron ore mining town of Brazil.
