 Population: 3.2 million
 Longitude: 53˚ - 58˚25’W
·         Capital: Montevideo
·         Situated: situated to the east of Argentina and south of Brazil on the Atlantic Ocean.
·         Size: continent’s third smallest state and the only one lying wholly outside the tropics.
MONTEVIDEO
·         Capital of Uruguay which grew into major city due to commercial grazing.
·         First world cup football was held here.
FRAY BENTOSY, PAYSANDU
·         Important meat packing centre of the country.
ECUADOR
 Area: 2, 83,560 sq. km.
 Latitude: 1˚20’ N-5˚S
 Population: 12.4 million.
 Longitude: 75˚15’-81˚W
 Capital: Quito
·         Situation: situated on the west coast of South America and surrounded by Colombia in the north and pe U in the east and south. It takes its name from its location on the equator.
QUITO:
·         The world’s second highest capital and a former Inca city representative station of equatorial highland type climate.
GUAYAQUIL
·         Situated on the pacific coast, is the chief port and airport.
·         Also known as pearl of the pacific’.

NORTH AMERICA

INTRODUCTION
           LATITUDE: 7° 12’N to 83° 38’N longitude: 12° 08'W to 172 30'w               AREA: 2, 42, 38,000 sq (including Greenland and   the Caribbean islands)
                         POPULATION: 16.3 million
·         49° N latitude forms the boundary between Canada and U.S.A.
·         The 100W longitude divides North America into more or less two equal parts.

                             Situation:
                               North America is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean in the east, gulf of Mexico     the in                                                                                         south, the pacific ocean in the west and the arctic ocean in the north.                         To the north it is separated from the easternmost tip of Siberia by the Bering Strait.
 SIZE:
                            Third largest continent after Asia and Africa.

PRINCIPAL COUNTRIES.
1.       CANADA

2.       The United States of America.
3.       Mexico
4.       Central America, which consists of Guatemala, Belize, EI Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua; Costa Rica and panama.
5.       Greenland---though it is a part of the continent it belongs to Denmark.
6.       The West Indies consists of some independent states (the Bahamas, Cuba, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Antigua and Barbuda, and Barbados) and Puerto Rico belonging to the USA.
