·         Finland is known as the “land of forests and lakes”. It is a low lying country covered with forests and lakes and its finish name, suomi, means ‘Lakeland’. Northern part of the country lies within the arctic carrel and is a part of Lapland, while the southern part is the coastal plain with fertile clay and soil and many lakes.

·         The capital and the largest city of Finland and is also known as the ‘white city of the north’.

·         After Reykjavik in lceland, it is the world’s most northerly capital

·         An important sea – port which exports timber and fur.

·         Major centre of food processing, printing, textiles and metal goods.
