Situation: it shares the international
boundaries with Bhutan, Tibet, China, Myanmar in the west, northeast, north and
east respectively, and the state boundaries with Assam and Nagaland. It became
the 24th state of Indian Union on 20th February 1987.

Situation: Assam is most strategically
situated close to India’s International borders with as many as three
countries, i.e., Bhutan, Myanmar and Bangladesh. It is bordered by Bhutan and
Arunachal Pradesh in North, Nagaland and Manipur in the cast, Tripura, Mizoram
and Meghalaya in the south and West Bengal and Bangladesh in the west.

The
Kaziranga National Park and the Manas Tiger Project (National Park) are
internationally famous for one horned Rhino and Royal Bengal Tiger
respectively.

Presently
four oil refineries have been working in the state including the one at Digboi.
