Situation: situated in the north eastern part of the Indian Peninsula. It is bordered by Chhattisgarh in the West, Jharkhand in the North West Bengal in the northeast, Bay of Bengal in the east and Andhra Pradesh in the south.

BHUBANESWAR

·         Capital city and also known as “The cathedral city of India” on account of its numerous temples.
·         It is famous for the Lingaraj Temple.

·         Gopalpur Steel Works, a unit of TISCO is situated about 120 km south – east of Bhubaneswar.
·         Gopalpur has been developed as an all weather port.


·         On the outskirts of Bhubaneswar the largest lion Safari of India and the Only white Tiger Safari of the world is located.

CUTTACK

·         Chief Town of Mahanadi Delta, erstwhile capital of Orissa.

·         Known for silver ormnamentsand its filigree works.

PARADIP

·         Major port of Orissa, situated on the east of Cuttack.

·         Fertilizer plant has been set up.

ROURKELA

·         One of the biggest steel plants in India was established with the help of West Germany.
KORAPUT

·         An aluminum complex has been developed by NALCO.

DAITARI

·         Shore based steel plant isolated only 120 km away from the coast.

ANGUKL

·         A captive power plant has been set up.

·         Aluminum smelter has been set up to utilize the East Coast bauxite deposits of Orissa.

PURI

·         Chief seaport of Orissa is famous for its Jagganath temple.

KONARK

·         Important tourist place, famous for its sun temple.

CHILKA LAKE


·         The largest brackish water inland lake in Asia.
